Who we are

Brandy Fuller

To say that I was merely introduced to the world of vintage automotive and memorabilia would be an understatement. In 2020, I had no idea that an entire community existed—one dedicated to collecting, preserving, and restoring what my generation might simply see as relics of a bygone era. Yet, the more time I spent immersed in it, the more I began to understand.

Most people can appreciate the sight of a vintage car cruising down the road—it commands respect and admiration. But beyond that, much of the nostalgia was initially lost on me. It took time, but I quickly learned that there’s just something different about it all. The weight and texture of a porcelain sign compared to today’s flimsy aluminum ones. The warm, the steady hum of real neon versus the cold artificial glow of modern LED strips. The design of an old gas pump, with its intricate details and craftsmanship, and the classic look of vintage oil cans, each with its own unique branding and patina. Everything from that era just has a different presence, a soul that today’s mass-produced world often lacks.

Without a doubt, neon signs steal the show for me—their warm glow, steady hum, and timeless craftsmanship set them apart from anything made today.

I wasn’t around for neon’s golden era, but I get it. I understand why those glowing signs were more than just advertisements—they were landmarks, works of art, beacons of a time when craftsmanship mattered. I’ve always believed that they don’t make things like they used to. Back then, quality was valued over quantity, and the world moved a little slower. Road trips meant looking out the window, watching neon flicker against the night sky, not staring down at a screen.

Neon is a lost art—handmade, imperfect, alive. And in a time where everything feels mass-produced and disposable, I see this as my small way of bringing younger generations to neon. Because once you stand beneath a real neon sign, hear its hum, and see its glow, you might just feel it—the aliveness of neon, almost like a tangible connection to an era of the past. It’s palpable, like history still breathing in light.
